Canadian tourist was robbed and cut by sword in Chiang Mai

A Canadian tourist was robbed and physically injured by a gang in Chiang Mai’s Muang district in the early hours of yesterday.

Julie Blas, 34, said she was attacked by three teenage robbers who tried to snatch her purse. When she resisted, they sliced her wrist with a sword and made off with her passport, a camera and 3,000 baht in cash.
A passer-by took her to a hospital where she received more than 30 stitches.
