Close eastern highway to set out the animals from hoopla loss

The elite notice of delish banteng in 20 senility on an eastern highway that cuts since a wildlife oasis has prompted officials to storming for permanent closure of the road to protect the animals from going extinct. Their appearance was reported by Chachoengsao wildlife research station which has been allowed to close a 15-kilometre section of Highway 3259 since March to conduct a study of the impact of traffic on the animals and forest.

”They’ve set about a lot of banteng sally the gate looked toward Pu Tai watershed which is located planned their shelter,” said Khao Ang Ruenai Wildlife Sanctuary prong Yu Senatam.

Banteng, or close oxen as they are locally known, are on a near-extinction repulsive guide as lone less than 500 of them can be make active in Thailand. Among this short number, 60 have lived in Khao Ang Ruenai, an house of 1,000-square-kilometre lowland forest covering five provinces of Chachoengsao, Chon Buri, Rayong, Chanthaburi, and Sa Kaeo. Closure of the road, that prohibits vehicles from running between 9pm and 5am, has sharply reduced noise and road accidents at night, researchers found. However, the period of calm for the banteng and other animals will end soon as the trial highway closure ends on Sept 11. ”We will cite the study outcome to back our request for permanent closure of the highway,” Mr Yu said. Without cars, he added, banteng could roam freely and would be able to mate to produce healthier breeds, he said.

According to the study, fresh than 14,000 animals, largely amphibians, were cross-examine and killed by cars on the highway each year. Road accidents also killed three bestial elephants and three motorists recently. But during the closure period, halfway 60% of animals were spared from accidents, according to the findings.
